Who each day is really for
These are two shapes of day rather than two versions of the same outing. The canyon trip runs on freshwater held back by a mountain dam and is finished in six hours door to door from Side, most of that on a catamaran. Suluada is an expedition: eleven hours from pickup to drop-off, a long road leg down the coast to Adrasan, then open sea to the island people nicknamed the Maldives of Turkey.
So the sorting question is not which one photographs better. It is how much of your holiday you are prepared to spend on a single boat. Families with a toddler, couples who want the evening back at the hotel, and anyone who has already had one bouncy afternoon on open water are usually happier on the lake, and the fare bands and age rules for children on board are set out on their own page. What the island day asks of you, and what the lake day gives back
The Suluada boat anchors off the island and small tender boats shuttle guests to the beach, so you never have to swim ashore — but you do have to be steady stepping from one boat to another. Nothing is sold on the island, so the whole day travels with you: swimwear, towel, hat, sunglasses and high-SPF sunscreen, because white sand and pale shallows throw the light straight back at you. Lunch is cooked on board — Turkish mezes, a seasonal salad, grilled fish or chicken with rice or pasta, fruit and tea — and the breakfast stop at Adrasan is optional and paid locally.
The canyon day trades scale for ease. Two swim stops in cool mountain water, lunch and unlimited soft drinks included while you are on the catamaran, fishing gear free to borrow, and a strict no-music policy that makes it the quietest deck we sell. You get half your day back. The price gap, and what it is not telling you
From Side the canyon is €33 per adult and €20 per child; the island is €43 and €30. Infants travel free on both. That gap is real but modest, roughly one dinner, which is why price alone almost never settles this decision.
Staying in Antalya, Kemer or Beldibi? Both days run their own departure from that coast, at their own price and their own length, so the Side figures above will not hold for you. Neither day is better. They fail and succeed at opposite things, so the honest way to read this is one line against its opposite number.

If you only have one free day
Choose the lake if the rest of the day still has to function: a dinner sitting you paid for, an evening flight, a child who naps. Choose the island if this is the day the week is built around and everything else can move.
