Some boat days are about loud music and crowded decks; this one is about slowing right down. An air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your hotel in central Alanya and drops you at the harbour, where the boat slips out beneath the castle rock towards open water, the Taurus mountains stacked along the shoreline behind you.
Out on the fishing grounds the crew set you up with a rod, bait and basic tackle, then stay close with tips picked up from local fishermen — useful whether it is your first cast or your five-hundredth. Everything happens from the deck, so you do not need to be a swimmer to take part, and children settle in happily alongside seasoned anglers.
When appetites sharpen, a hot lunch is brought out on deck, and the skipper drops anchor in a sheltered bay so anyone who fancies it can slip into the clear water. Reserving your places costs nothing, you pay in euros on the day itself, and plans can change free of charge up to 24 hours ahead.
